Accident Lawyers

Many times when a hit-and-run accident occurs, it takes some time to locate the driver of the vehicle in question and to obtain statements and evidence from the driver and other sources regarding the particular facts that led to the accident. In response to a tragic and deadly accident between an SUV and a bicycle over the weekend, the driver has been found and is cooperating with police, but authorities are still seeking input from any witnesses to continue to piece together the events that led to this result.

According to the Sun-Sentinel:

“Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a Pompano Beach bicyclist early Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. in the 8000 block of N. Federal Highway, police said. Loren Clobes, 60, was riding south when his bike was hit by a tan Cadillac Escalade, according to police. He dies at the scene.

The driver, Tonya Meccariello, 43, of Boca Raton told police she did not stop because she did know she hit anything. She is cooperating with the investigation, investigators said.

Police tracked down the car after an anonymous tipster called with information.”

Clearly, no one knows if the driver would have been located without the tip, and whether the driver is charged with something as serious as vehicular homicide remains to be seen. However, the driver is likely in a position of exposure to civil liability, and if you or someone you love has been harmed in such a situation, you need the help of Boca Raton accident lawyers who understand the law and how to fight for the rights of those wrongfully harmed.
