Traffic accidents can occur at almost any time, and anyone who takes to the roads or sidewalks needs to be prepared to deal with the mistakes of others. However, sitting down to lunch at a bagel shop usually does not require vigilance for mistakes made by those behind on the wheel on the nearby roads. Unfortunately, that belief was proved false yesterday when a vehicle crashed into a Pompano Beach bagel shop, injuring the driver and a patron inside.
According to the Sun-Sentinel:
“A 65-year-old man is recovering after being injured when a car crashed into a bagel shop around lunchtime Wednesday.
Daniel Rothman, of Pompano Beach, was in good condition at North Broward Medical Center on Thursday, hospital officials said.
A Toyota Solara driven by Lessie Williams Bryant, 76, crashed into the Bagel Snack Restaurant and Deli at 1235 S. Pompano Parkway about noon, said Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mike Jachles.
Bryant, also of Pompano Beach, was taken to the hospital. He has since been released.”
The crash is still under investigation, but the restaurant opened for business this morning. There is no word yet regarding what could have possibly led to such an egregious mistake. The driver could be facing liability not only for the injuries caused to the customer, but also for property damage done to the bagel shop unless some other factor emerges that’s not expected.
