Anyone who has had to deal with a flat tire while on the road understands how annoying it can be to make the necessary temporary repairs before getting back into the daily routine. What some do not seem to fully comprehend is that such a situation is also potentially dangerous when a flat tire occurs on a highway. Tragically, one woman lost her life when she attempted to handle her tire on the Sawgrass Expressway, as she was struck by two cars and killed. (more…)

Gas Station Pump Explodes in Coconut Beach, Injuring Man

We all pump gas at filling stations from time to time, and most of us take for granted that the process is safe assuming that we don’t do foolish things such as smoke cigarettes near flammable fuel. That’s why the cause of a sudden explosion at a gas pump yesterday at a station in nearby Coconut Beach remains a mystery. What is clear, though, is that the man pumping the fuel was injured and his car was charred beyond use in the explosion. (more…)

Boca Raton Detective Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash

Hit-and-run accidents can occur at any time and in any place, and no one is immune to those dangers, including police officers. As of this morning, Boca Raton officials are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle that struck a Boca Raton detective as he was investigating a robbery from earlier in the evening that left him in critical but stable condition at a local hospital. Several movies and other media releases have glorified street racing, and unfortunately, many people have taken to that exposure by attempting to race vehicles on city streets themselves. Simply put, this is an incredibly dangerous practice, as high-speed races can lead to high-velocity crashes that leave devastating results. Two Boca Raton Girls Die from Carbon Monoxide Exposure

Deaths from carbon monoxide are quite rare in a statistical sense, but when they do occur the results and details are often nothing short of tragic. Apparently, that was the case in Boca Raton over the weekend, as a schoolgirl sleep-over turned out to be deadly for two girls who were killed as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. It appears that the cause of their deaths was from a car that was left running in the garage. (more…)
